About Me

Krystan Samaniego is a Nationally Certified Sign Language interpreter and former Spanish and

American Sign Language teacher.

She has a love and passion for the Deaf Community and started by volunteering with various programs when she was attending college; such as, Big Brother Big Sister for Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing children and later at Chicago Lighthouse with Deaf and Blind teens and young adults.

All 3 of her children learned Sign Language before they were able to speak. She is a firm believer in children learning sign since there are so many benefits and it’s such a fun and beneficial language.

She has been working within the Deaf community and using Sign Language daily in her personal and professional life for over 20 years.

Recently, Krystan found out that one of her daughters has a sensorineural hearing loss and this journey has even more meaning than ever.

What is the Time to Sign with Krystan Academy?

The Time to Sign with Krystan Academy is a comprehensive program that is designed for you to have access to Krystan, your instructor to ensure your success in learning ASL.

The Academy, is a monthly membership that provides you with access to the live group class sessions hosted by Krystan. This will allow you to work with her live on a monthly basis to help you answer your questions, as well as have access to our community of students also learning ASL just like you! During your time in the Academy, you will also have access to over 31 lessons and growing! These short bite sized lessons will break down different vocabulary and key concepts in ASL making learning, fun, easy, stress free and manageable with short videos, so you can learn and implement. Krystan is consistently adding new lessons to the course and you will be eligible to access this new content during your time in the Academy.

Krystan believes that the most important aspect to learning a language is constant practice and implementation, which is why she facilitated these additional practice sessions with other students. This allows students to go through the course at their own pace but also have access to the instructor and other students for support if they need help. The course is designed to be short bite sized lessons no more than 15- 20 minutes long.

In addition, Krystan facilities practice sessions via zoom in breakout style and whole group instruction, since immersion in the language and kinesthetic practice is the best way to learn ASL.
